Portrait Experiment

Using different types of papers, media (mixed or by itself) I attempted to draw this woman in four totally different views. Without looking at the previous work, I went in with as fresh of an approach as possible. The first is watercolor on cold press. I scrubbed this one a number of times before tossing it aside. I still don't think it's done but for my own sanity it is for now. The second was also water color but taking a much looser approach and using an easel so the paint would drip and let the watercolor move around the paper. This was painted while looking at Charles Reid's word...although he is much better than I am. The third is more of my "usual" approach with the drawing and pen being the stability of the piece. The last one was using acrylics in a very quick and painterly way.

Missing Baseball Season

Hoping the Red Sox sign or trade for a big power hitter. In the mean time just missing baseball.

"Historical Heroes"

Article on if we viewed and glorify our historical figures like we do super heroes and larger than life fictional characters. It was mostly acrylics and pen with a little watercolor for the shadow. Thanks for looking.

1st Painting in New Art Studio

Itching for weeks to finally try my new spot. Just a little practice piece trying out the new desk and studio. A converted dining room turned art space. It's small but has great light and cozy.

Vintage

Moleskin sketchbook, pencil, and eraser. Lots of blending, smudging, and reworking into the values. Tried to create a subtle amount of contrast to keep the historical look of the drawing.

Lion in Love

Straight for the butt. Cupid going after this proud lion.

Hans Christian Anderson

Found an old picture book telling the biography of this famous author. It was a throw away book but beautifully illustrated. I couldn't figure out why. I have to illustrate my own version of what I thought the cover should look like. Hopefully, I did it justice.
